Fire Emblem Three Houses brings back the complex strategy and character development of past games in the series, this time with a few new wrinkles. One of the iconic features of past games is the Blacksmith, and it’s a pretty essential service you’ll want to make uses of in Three Houses. With that, here’s how to unlock the Blacksmith in Fire Emblem Three Houses. How to Unlock the Blacksmith in Fire Emblem Three Houses The good news is that you don’t need to go out of your way at all in order to unlock the Blacksmith, it just takes a bit of time. All you need to do is play through the game until you complete the first handful of story missions in act one, at which point you’ll automatically unlock the Blacksmith. The only catch is that you can only use it on Sundays, which are your free days. What the Blacksmith Does The Blacksmith has a couple of different functions, one of which is hugely useful. The first one is repairing broken weapons. If a weapon completely loses its durability in Three Houses it becomes much less useful, and this can even happen to your main character’s weapon, the Sword of the Creator. Once you unlock the Blacksmith you can repair weapons that have lost their durability, for the price of gold and Smithing Stones. The other useful feature is Forge, which will again let you pay gold and Smithing Stones to upgrade your weapons to + variations, increasing their attack and other stats. That covers everything you need to know about how to unlock the Blacksmith in Fire Emblem Three Houses. For even more tips, tricks, and info make sure to search Twinfinite, or you can check out our helpful Fire Emblem Three Houses guide wiki. Feel free to drop any other questions you might have in the comments below, and we’ll do our best to get you a quick answer. Motivation is very important for building strong characters in Three Houses. This Fire Emblem Three Houses Motivation Guide explains how to get the most out of different activities to ensure your students are at maximum motivation whenever a teaching opportunity comes your way. Motivation represents your students ability to be taught. Each time you attempt to teach a student, it will cost 25 Motivation. Motivation ranges from 0 to 100, with 100 being the ideal level before every lecture. When you are participating in activities and events, Motivation is marked by a face. The grim blue face is 0 Motivation, orange is 25, yellow is 50, green is 75-100. At the start of the game, you only have enough points to teach a few students each lesson. As such, you will usually find enough students with maximum Motivation to spend your teaching points. However, as you level, you will need your entire class to have maximum motivation. When you are doing events, try not to waste the participant slots on students who already have maximum motivation. For example, if you sit down to eat with two students, don’t pick two students with 100 Motivation, pick those that need a boost. Another fantastic method of increasing Motivation, that doesn’t require teacher points, is to give gifts. Check out our gift giving guide for the best gifts for each person. Blaine Smith Blaine "Captain Camper" Smith is one of the original founders of Gamers Heroes. Now operating under the guise of Editor-in-Chief purely because we felt the position was needed for public relations purposes, he's tasked with a lot of the kind of jobs that would put you to sleep at your desk. When he's not catching some Zs, you'll likely find him arguing points he knows nothing about, playing the latest rogue-like he'll never complete, or breaking something on the website that never needed fixing. You can best reach him on Twitter Back to top button It's been nearly a year since Fire Emblem Three Houses graced our Switch screens, and many players likely still haven't run out of content. The game brought new life to the 30-year-old Fire Emblem franchise, revamping the battle system with battalions and a new class type, and allowing more control over your units than ever with lectures and monastery activities. With all this extra content and essentially three games worth of plot, of course there are a few hidden features and sneaky easter eggs that we missed upon the way. Let's take a look at some of the secrets that may have you booting up your copy of Three Houses once again. Spoilers ahead for those who want to discover hidden content for themselves! 10 Anna's Secret Shop Whether she's acting as a plucky vendor or a guiding hand through tutorials, Anna is certainly a familiar face in the Fire Emblem series. You can purchase items from her before each mission in Three Houses, but some players may have missed her secret shop within the monastery. After the time skip, you're given greater access to Garreg Mach's marketplace. Hanging out amongst some guards is our pink-haired merchant, and if you speak with Anna you'll have the chance to complete a short quest for her. If you manage to find her and help her out, you'll be given access to a secret shop brimming with rare items, including rings and unlimited Master Seals. 9 Mercurius If you're playing with an online connection active, occasionally you'll see a glowing tile that will reward you with XP or a random item when a unit steps on it. It won't take long for players to come across rusty weapons amongst these rewards, which may seem like a disappointing find at first. But don't go throwing away those old weapons just yet. All of them can be reforged into normal equipment, but there's a chance you'll discover some that can be restored into some of the best weapons in the game. One of these is the sword Mercurius, a legendary weapon that has been appearing since the very first Fire Emblem. 8 Quickly Recruiting Sylvain Sylvain is perhaps one of the best-designed male units in the game, but the most memorable thing about him is probably his flirtatious ways. Sylvain is notorious for his unrelenting attempts to charm women, and his skirt-chasing actually subtly impacts the gameplay. When playing as male Byleth, if Sylvain isn't in your house you'll need to work on your Charm and Reason stats before you can recruit him, or at least build up his support rank. Things are much easier for female Byleth though - just speak to Sylvain in chapter 2 and he'll be happy to join you regardless of your stats. It seems not even the professor is safe from Sylvain's flirting! 7 Parthia Mercurius isn't the only secret legendary weapon in Three Houses. Players can count themselves lucky if they find a rusted bow that can be reforged into Parthia, so long as they can afford to give 10 pieces of mythril and 2000G to the blacksmith. In addition to spawning from the glowing tiles that appear during online connection, these rare rusted weapons can also drop during monster encounters. If players are unsure whether the old weapon they found is anything special, you can always press X while it's selected in the menu. Its description will specify if it can be transformed into a legendary weapon such as Parthia. 6 Secret Support Conversations The support system has long been a beloved feature of the Fire Emblem series. Bonding your units improves their stats when working alongside each other in battle, making for some unstoppable pairs when used right. Unless you've played through the game with the same characters a number of times, players will probably overlook certain changes that support ranks can cause. If the Black Eagles win the Battle of the Eagle and Lion, Dorothea will mention she feels left out wished to sneak off with someone to celebrate. Ferdinand will respond by inviting her to tea, and usually, Dorothea will decline. But, if they've already managed to reach B rank in their supports, Dorothea will accept his invitation. There's no telling how many tiny details like this are hidden in Three Houses. 5 Monastery Secret Room The Garreg Mach Monastery might seem quite the sprawling structure, but it only takes a few hours of item fetching and support building for players to get used to its layout. You wouldn't expect there to be many hidden corners players have overlooked, but that's exactly the case for Amiibo owners. In the monastery gardens lies the Amiibo Gazebo, where scanning any Fire Emblem Amiibo can net you certain rewards. In the NG+, scanning an Amiibo here also allows you to visit a secret room called the Holy Tomb. Sothis will be there to gift you the Sothis Shield, a spell that grants your entire team +7 to Resistance. 4 Gradivus The lance amongst the legendary rusted weapons is Gradivus, a powerful weapon with a hit rate of 90%. Each of these legendary weapons requires a Professor rating of A+, which can take hours of fishing, gardening, and faculty training to achieve. One of these rusted weapons exists for each non-magic weapon type. Players can restore a rusted axe for Hauteclere, which in previous games was the signature weapon of Princess Minerva of Macedon. Rusted gauntlets, a new weapon type introduced in Three Houses, can be reforged into Dragon Claws. 3 Hidden Story In Chapter Illustrations At the beginning of each chapter, or in-game calendar month, the player is greeted with a unique illustration. These pictures often depict the weather or activities if the month, with flowers in spring and harvests in autumn, and lend the game a magical, storybook quality. What players may miss is a rather complex story hidden in the details of these illustrations. The story follows the life of a deer and the hunter who orphaned it, including the hunter's eventual conscription into a war. Players should keep an eye on the background and details of these chapter images to learn the ending of this somber tale. 2 Edelgard's Two Paths Even from its title, Three Houses is centered on the idea that the player must choose from three narrative paths. However, if you choose the Black Eagle route, depending on your actions pre-time skip you may be presented with a fourth path to follow. The standard route leads you to side with the Church and go to war against Edelgard, but if you have at least a C+ support rank with her, you'll be given another choice. If you speak to her during Chapter 11, you'll be given the option to go with her and witness her coronation, allowing you to oppose the Church with her for the rest of the game. This dramatically impacts the story and units available to you, so choose wisely! 1 Secret Credits Song Whether you side with the Blue Lions, the Golden Deer, or the Church, the song 'The Edge of Dawn' plays during the ending credits. In all of these routes, Edelgard's ambitions and goals ultimately fail. The Japanese title 'Girl of Hresvelg' mentions Edelgard's surname, and this along with the lyrics suggests the song expresses Edelgard's sorrow from her perspective. If you side with Edelgard, though, an otherwise hidden song called 'The Color of Sunrise' instead plays. This song has no lyrics and considering Edelgard's dreams are realized through this path it feels like a more uplifting note for Three Houses to end on. NEXT All Advanced Classes In Fire Emblem Three Houses, Ranked Knowing when to change class and why can be daunting, but fortunately, we break it down for you in this handy Three Houses class guide. In yet another first for the series, Fire Emblem Three Houses throws open the class system entirely, letting you mix and match characters and their growth paths in ways not possible for classing up have changed too, meaning you have to think about more than whether to level up right away at level 10 or wait until level of freedom can sometimes be a bit intimidating, so we've put together this handy guide covering when to reclass and what to consider when you're choosing your next to Reclass in Fire Emblem Three HousesReclassing in Fire Emblem Three Houses is skill based and level-based. Not only do you need to be at least a certain level depending on the class, but you also need the requisite skill levels and have a Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced Seal. Master class doesn't unlock in your class menu until your Professor rank hits rank are the level requirements for each class group Beginner — Level 5 Intermediate — Level 10 Advanced — Level 20 Master — Level 30 You can check out skill requirements for each class at those first three levels in the dormitory menu's Certification Exam section, even if you aren't planning on reclassing yetOnce you meet a class's requirements, just choose your character, seal, and class, don't forget to change to that class after you pass the exam, and you're good to where the issue comes in when to do to ReclassUnlike some of the earlier Fire Emblem games, there's not necessarily a huge stat improvement when you reclass, mostly because you don't get that big leap in stats if you classed up at a lower level class skills like Canto or Lockpick are tied to specific classes and don't carry over, nor do your stats carry over from one class to the next, there are really just two things to keep in mind for when you need to GrowthThe first thing to keep in mind when reclassing is how that class's skill growth bonuses fit with your future goalsClasses at the Master level unlock once your Professor level reaches C rank, which, depending on how you spend your time, you should be able to do in White Clouds Chapter classes need a Master Seal and a Level 30 character. However, they also combine disparate skill requirements and require more mastery in more example, the Mortal Savant requires Reason B+ and Sword A, while the Great Knight must have Heavy Armor A and Riding B+.As you develop your characters, you'll find these tend to be mutually exclusive. Those gifted enough in Reason or Faith to make a difference in combat usually don't have Strength enough to work on Sword or Lance skills in normal are two possible ways to handle first is reclassing to work on the skills you need. For instance, hopping between Mage and Mercenary to get the necessary above the Beginner level offer skill growth bonuses in certain areas, as you'll see below. If you're planning on doing a lot of combat outside the main story — through skirmish battles or Paralogues, for example — then reclassing to boost a certain skill could be you're grinding for class mastery, though, it's not the most efficient way. The second way to ensure you have the right skills is to plan out how you handle your instruction, group tasks, and goal setting and you can check out our detailed instruction guide for help with that.If you don't want to babysit a magic user trying to gain Sword skills, focus on classes that boost what they are proficient in. Then, set the other skills as your weekly goals, boost them with individual lecture sessions, or both. Skills set as goals grow much more rapidly Mastery SkillsThe other thing to consider is whether you want the mastery skills and abilities from mastering a class, including the default Noble/Commoner class, has a skill you unlock when you master that class, and it's one you can carry with you when you reclass as can see what class abilities each class has when you're looking over a Certification Exam's requirements. You don't learn what the mastery skills are until you master a class, nor do you get to see what the bonus rates are — well, outside of a guide like this one. Here's a list of all the class mastery skills and abilities in Three Houses.
